    We are searching for a talented Strategic Initiatives and Market Research Manager   to be based out of our corporate offices located in Cleveland, Ohio.

     

    The Office of Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Operations provides enterprise-wide strategy-based planning, consulting and project management services that enables all departments within Forest City Realty Trust to develop, align, communicate and execute strategies and measure their success. The Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Market Research, partners with executive management to address a variety of strategic issues. The role is focused on leading cross-segment initiatives that drive Forest City’s strategy and near-term execution goals at an enterprise level, managing relationship strategies with associates, customers, tenants and business partners, and overseeing the management and integration of external data into the company’s decision-making processes.  This is a highly visible role with direct interaction with senior leadership and requires exceptional communication and presentation skills.  As the Strategic Initiatives and Market Research Manager, initial project involvement will include, but not be limited to, driving a planned refresh of the Forest City Strategic Plan and guiding department resources.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the enterprise market research team to provide in-house consulting services to research, analyze and assimilate relevant trends in the marketplace related to real estate, the economy and consumers. Based on research performed, develop and socialize a long-term vision around the likely evolution of our existing core products and markets, potential expansion opportunities and competitive landscape. Serve as the primary liaison to our Financial Planning & Analysis group to coordinate market intelligence, including competitive assessments and sub-market research. Develop and execute a continuous improvement strategy to raise the bar of our market research, including monitoring the impact of investment decisions on the aggregate metrics, market maps, competitor tracking and benchmarking, industry analysis, economic forecasting, etc.
    • Provide proactive leadership in a team oriented environment to define, coordinate and execute the Strategic Planning cycle (every three years with an annual refresh). Focus on translating the strategic plan into action plans that feed into high level projects. Based on the work product of the Strategic Planning cycle, prepare and coordinate the drafting of the Strategic Plan and any updates to the Board of Directors, senior management, and all associates.
    • Provide proactive leadership as the primary leader for assigned programs and projects. Serve as primary liaison to Sponsor regarding assigned projects and/or programs. Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity. Serves as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of the project.
    • Responsible for developing the project plan, including the schedule, resource and financial plan of the project. Drive activities through the various phases and stagegates while ensuring adherence to the project plan and quality standards. Monitor and track performance and health of the project while proactively identifying, managing and resolving issues and risks of the project.  Negotiate conflict to satisfactory resolution of all stakeholders involved.  Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using predefined change management process.                          

    Qualifications

    • This position requires an Undergraduate Degree in Business (finance, accounting, real estate, economics).
    • An additional degree that is preferred for this position include: Master Degree in Business, Real Estate, or Economics.
    • 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis or commercial real estate is required.
    • 8-10 years of performing real estate related analysis across product types or property types is preferred.
    • Required skills for this position include: analytical, problem solving, decision-making, strategic thinking, interpersonal communication, project management, collaborative, and development of impactful presentations.
    • This position requires up to 25% travel.
