We are searching for a talented Procurement Commodity Manager  to support our CONSTRUCTION, DEVELOPMENT and PROPERTY OPERATIONS activity and will be based out of our corporate office in Cleveland, Ohio.   Forest City has a large property development pipeline and this role will assume a critical role in our new properties sucess!

The Commodity Manager is responsible for strategic planning, and execution for all aspects of Forest City’s strategic sourcing process in commodity areas focused on CONSTRUCTION, DEVELOPMENT and PROPERTY OPERATIONS. Overall spend responsibility will vary between $30M and $100M across 5 – 8 distinct commodities and the commodity manager will strive to bring in 5- 10% in total Procurement value year over year based on sourceable spend for the year.  The Commodity Manager will be responsible to create an annual strategy for each commodity area by clearly understanding the business requirements and market factors. Execution of the sourcing strategy will include the development of supplier relationship strategies, conducting fact-based negotiations and ensuring that contracts are effectively written and approved. The Commodity Manager will independently leads, direct and influence the work of others throughout the strategy development and execution. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected so that value and risk are managed correctly for each commodity. The commodity manager will also be responsible for educating the business on Procurement strategies, best practices and options within the commodities that they own.             

Responsibilities

  • Establishing agreements for materials, services and equipment at the lowest total cost while meeting or exceeding Forest City’s quality and specification requirements through a strategic sourcing methodology.
  • Conducting spend analysis, market analysis, and supplier analysis, and benchmarking/cost modeling executing commodity sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFI’s and RFP’s, documents bid events through correspondence to suppliers; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with a cross-functional teams; conducts supplier negotiations and ongoing supplier management. 
  • Providing leadership and guidance to target commodity areas for future sourcing projects.
  • Identifying and reporting appropriate trend analyses and highlight areas of opportunity.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers and service providers, Determine commodity-specific supplier performance measurements, mechanism and tool, and enforce quality metrics.
  • Understanding the needs and requirements of internal clients and work to ensure that these needs are met within the parameters of the Strategic Sourcing process and in line with corporate objectives.
  • Assisting in issue resolution with suppliers and internal clients. 

 

Qualifications

  • This position requires an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration.
  •  3+ years of specific CONSTRUCTION, DEVELOPMENT and PROPERTY OPERATIONS sourcing experience is PREFERRED or 5-7 years of required experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Supplier Management in supporting other categories. 
  • Required skills for the position include: procurement and strategic sourcing knowledge, usually with multiple specific category sourcing expertise, project management experience, networking and team skills, strategically oriented, negotiation, conflict resolution, communication/interpersonal skills, and analytical skills.    
  • This position requires up to 25% travel.
